When you are on your mental health, wellness, holistic, spiritual healing journey, there are a lot of emotions, feelings, and roadblocks. Healing is a whirlwind experience. However, one thing that should be discussed more extensively is what happens when you have done a lot of the healing work and must go back to too the environments that did not bring out the best in you. There is also not much talk about the fact that many people will still hold your past against you, the same path you let go of and already processed while learning from to get to your higher vibration. It can be unsettling, hurtful, and uncomfortable to know you’ve done all this healing and still experience rejection.
Working with your life coach or therapist to be prepared to address these situations and maintain your integrity and love for yourself is essential. I noticed this becoming an issue when I saw certain celebrities share their healing journey, and many people on social media dragged them, saying that they were only rebranding. Rebranding is a term used to suggest that a person’s healing journey isn’t real and that they are trying to change how they are perceived to tap into a new audience for financial gain. This can be hurtful and minimizes a person who was actively in pain and is now trying to grow and improve. I also ask clients if they are engaging in this behavior. Are they projecting their sense of judgment onto others on their healing journey? It goes to one of the tried-and-true rules of projection that when people are unprovoked being mean to others, it is usually a reflection of themselves and not of the other person.
When you are on your healing journey, finding a new sense of belonging and community with others on the same journey is essential. This can provide grounding with the social connections that humans need for life fulfillment. Another thing to focus on is to remind yourself that there will be specific triggers and conditions that can automatically send you back to those painful feelings, and it’s vital that during those times, you can stop and reflect on all the growth you’ve accomplished and allow yourself to feel still. Just because you are healed or in your healing journey doesn’t mean you are emotionless; if anything, you become more emotional, but this is used more healthily instead of engaging in ineffective coping skills.
Remember, you don’t have to prove your healing journey to anyone!
